Martin Beaver is first violinist of the Tokyo String Quartet since he joined the ensemble in 2002. A prominent chamber musician, he was a founding member of two Canadian ensembles: the Toronto String Quartet and Triskelion. He has appeared with the Boston Chamber Music Society and Bargemusic, as well as at Ravinia, the Seattle Chamber Music Festival and Reizend Muziekgezelschap in Amsterdam. As a soloist, Mr. Beaver has appeared with the San Francisco Symphony, Indianapolis Symphony, Montreal Symphony, Toronto Symphony, National Orchestra of Belgium and the Portuguese Radio Orchestra, among others. He was a top prize-winner at the international violin competitions in Indianapolis and Montreal. A former pupil of Victor Danchenko, Josef Gingold and Henryk Szeryng, he has served on the faculties of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, the University of British Columbia and the Peabody Conservatory of Music of the John Hopkins University in Baltimore and has presented masterclasses in North America, Europe and Asia. He is currently on the faculty at the Steinhardt School at New York University. Mr. Beaver has recorded for the René Gailly, Naim Audio, Naxos, SM5000 and Musica Viva labels.

Martin Beaver est depuis 2002 le premier violon du Tokyo String Quartet, avec lequel il s’est produit en concert dans les plus grandes villes du monde. Il a par ailleurs joué avec l’Orchestre symphonique de San Francisco, l’Orchestre National de Belgique et le Symphonique de Montréal, sous la baguette de Pinchas Zukerman, Raymond Leppard et Charles Dutoit. Ses récitals l’ont mené à Toronto, Chicago, Washington, Londres et Tokyo, et il est régulièrement invité lors de festivals de musique de chambre comme ceux de Seattle et Ottawa, ou le Festival International de Miyazaki. Lauréat du Concours Reine Elisabeth en 1993, il a aussi remporté des prix aux concours internationaux de Indianapolis et Montréal, et a réalisé divers enregistrements pour René Gailly, Naim Audio, Naxos et Harmonia Mundi. Actuellement lié à l'école Steinhardt à l'Université de New York, Martin Beaver a entre autres été professeur au Peabody Conservatory of Music.

Martin Beaver is eerste violist van het Tokyo String Quartet sinds hij het ensemble vervoegde in 2002. Hij stichtte twee Canadese ensembles : het Toronto String Quartet en Triskelion. Als solist heeft hij o.a. opgetreden met de San Francisco Symphony, Indianapolis Symphony, Montreal Symphony, Toronto Symphony, het Nationaal Orkest van België en het Portugese Radio Orkest. Naast zijn vierde prijs op de vioolwedstrijd in 1993 prijkt hij ook op het palmares van de internationale vioolwedstrijden van Indianapolis en Montréal. Zelf een voormalig leerling van Victor Danchenko, Josef Gingold en Henryk Szeryng, heeft hij les gegeven aan de Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, de University of British Columbia en het Peabody Conservatory of Music van de John Hopkins University in Baltimore. Hij heeft master classes gegeven in Noord-Amerika, Europa en Azië. Momenteel is hij verbonden aan de faculteit van de Steinhardt School van de New York University. Hij maakte opnames voor de labels René Gailly, Naim Audio, Naxos, SM5000 en Musica Viva.
