Second prize and Public's prize at the Queen Elisabeth Competition 2009, Lorenzo Gatto's talent has also been recognised with his winning of many other prizes, such as the 1st prize and Public's Prize at the International RNCM Competition in Manchester and the 1st prize at the International Andrea Postacchini Competition in Italy.
From the age of 12, Lorenzo Gatto has been invited to play at famous festivals and renowned halls around the whole of Europe such as the Centre for Fine Arts and Flagey in Brussels, Philharmonie in Luxemburg, Salle Cortot in Paris, the Seoul Arts Center, the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, etc. It is also with orchestras that he has enriched his experience, notably with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra (under the direction of V. Sinaisky), the Belgian National Orchestra (under the direction of W. Weller, G. Varga, E. Aadland, E. Mazzola, P. Davin and S. Blunier), the Royal Flemish Philharmonic Orchestra (deFilharmonie, under the direction of P. Herreweghe and J. van Zweden), the Philharmonic Orchestra of Luxemburg (under the direction of E. Krivine), the Royal Chamber Orchestra of Wallonia (under the direction of P. Goodwin et A. Dumay), the New Russia Orchestra,… and, of course, through his various encounter with great musicians such as Seiji Ozawa, Midori, Pamela Frank, Robert Mann, Zakhar Bron, Salvatore Accardo, Julian Rachlin,…
Born in Brussels (Belgium) in 1986, Lorenzo Gatto started studying the violin at the age of 5. As soon as he was 12 he joined the Brussels Royal Conservatory of Music in Véronique Bogaerts' class where, at 17, he gained the higher diploma for violin with the highest distinction. After this he continued to perfect his playing under Herman Krebbers in Holland, Augustin Dumay at the Queen Elisabeth College of Music and Boris Kuschnir in Austria (Kunstuniversität, Graz and Konservatorium Wien).
In 2010, Lorenzo Gatto has made a Enescu-Martinu recording for the Fuga Libera label with the pianist Milos Popovic (“Deconstructing the Wall”), but also Vieuxtemps' Concerto n°4 with the Liège Philharmonic Orchestra (Belgium) under the direction of Patrick Davin. He has also recorded string trios and Schubert's „The Trout" as well as the Divertimento (Mozart) album, for the UT3-records' label. He has also recorded Martinu's Concerto n°2 with the Belgian National Orchestra under the direction of Walter Weller.
Having been elected Rising Star 2010-2011, he has performed on the major European stages, such as the Birmingham Symphony Hall, the Cité de la Musique in Paris, the Wiener Musikverein, the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, and then in Barcelona, Baden Baden, Hamburg, Cologne, Luxemburg, Athens, etc. In the same season he has held a residential post at the Brussels Center for Fine Arts, concerts in South Korea, concerts with the Royal Flemish Philharmonic Orchestra (deFilharmonie), the Belgian National Orchestra, the Liège Philharmonic Orchestra and the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra...
As a committed musician, in 2007 Lorenzo Gatto co-founded the Cl4ssiK association, with the aim of encouraging young people to be more aware of classical music.
He plays a J.B. Vuillaume violin.

Né à Bruxelles (Belgique) en 1986, Lorenzo Gatto commence l’étude du violon à 5 ans. Dès l’âge de 12 ans, il intègre le Conservatoire Royal de Musique de Bruxelles dans la classe de Véronique Bogaerts où il obtient à 17 ans le diplôme supérieur de violon avec la plus grande distinction. Il se perfectionne par la suite auprès de Herman Krebbers en Hollande, d’Augustin Dumay à la Chapelle Musicale Reine Elisabeth et de Boris Kuschnir (Kunstuniversität de Graz et Conservatoire de Vienne).
Début 2010, Lorenzo Gatto a réalisé un enregistrement d’Enescu, Martinu et Mokranjac pour le label Fuga Libera avec le pianiste Milos Popovic (album « Deconstructing the Wall »), de même que du Concerto n°4 de Vieuxtemps avec l’Orchestre Philharmonique de Liège (Belgique) sous la direction de Patrick Davin. Il a également enregistré les trios à cordes et la Truite de Schubert, ainsi que l'album Divertimento (Mozart), pour le label UT3-records. Il enregistre également le Concerto n°2 de Martinu avec l’Orchestre National de Belgique sous la direction de Walter Weller.
Ayant été élu Rising Star 2010-2011, Lorenzo Gatto se produit durant cette saison sur les grandes scènes européennes, comme le Birmingham Symphony Hall, la Cité de la Musique à Paris, le Wiener Musikverein, le Concertgebouw d'Amsterdam, ou encore à Barcelone, Baden Baden, Hambourg, Cologne, Gateshead, Stockholm, Luxembourg, Bruxelles et Athènes. Au rang des prochaines échéances, notons également sa résidence au Palais des Beaux-Arts de Bruxelles durant cette saison 2010-2011, des concerts en Corée du Sud, des concerts avec l’Orchestre Royal Philharmonique de Flandres (deFilharmonie), l’Orchestre National de Belgique, l’Orchestre Philharmonique de Liège ou encore le Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, ...
Musicien engagé, Lorenzo Gatto a cofondé en 2007 l’asbl Cl4ssiK, dans le but de sensibiliser les jeunes à la musique classique.

Het talent van Lorenzo Gatto werd niet alleen door een Tweede Prijs en de Publieksprijs van de Koningin Elisabethwedstrijd 2009 beloond, maar ook door talrijke andere prijzen, waaronder de Eerste Prijs en de Publieksprijs van de RNCM International Violin Competition in Manchester en de Eerste Prijs van de Concorso Internationale Andrea Postacchini in Italië.
Vanaf zijn twaalfde werd Lorenzo Gatto gevraagd om op te treden op festivals en op vermaarde podia over heel Europa, zoals het Paleis voor Schone Kunsten (Bozar) en Flagey in Brussel, de Philharmonie in Luxemburg, de Salle Cortot in Parijs, de Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, enz. Hij verrijkte zijn ervaring ook door op te treden met orkesten, bijvoorbeeld met het BBC Philharmonic Orchestra (o.l.v. V. Sinaisky), het Nationaal Orkest van België (o.l.v. W. Weller, G. Varga, S. Geboren in Brussel in 1986, begint Lorenzo Gatto viool te studeren op vijfjarige leeftijd. Toen hij twaalf jaar was, slaagde hij voor de toelatingsproef tot het Koninklijk Muziekconservatorium van Brussel in de klas van Véronique Bogaerts en behaalde daar op 17-jarige leeftijd het hoger diploma voor viool met de grootste onderscheiding. Hij vervolmaakte zich vervolgens in Nederland bij Herman Krebbers, bij Augustin Dumay aan de Muziekkapel Koningin Elisabeth en bij de pedagoog Boris Kuschnir (Kunstuniversität Graz en Konservatorium Wien).
In 2010 maakte Lorenzo Gatto een opname met muziek van Enescu en Martinu voor het label Fuga Libera, samen met de pianist Milos Popovic (“Deconstructing the Wall”). In 2010 nam hij ook het Vierde Concerto van Vieuxtemps op met het Filharmonisch Orkest van Luik onder de leiding van Patrick Davin. Hij nam ook de strijktrio’s en het Forellenkwintet van Schubert op, evenals het album Divertimento (Mozart), voor het label UT3-records en het Tweede Concerto van Martinu met het Nationaal Orkest van België onder leiding van Walter Weller.
Verkozen tot Rising Star 2010-2011, heeft hij opgetreden op de grote Europese podia, zoals de Birmingham Symphony Hall, de Cité de la Musique in Parijs, de Wiener Musikverein, het Concertgebouw Amsterdam, en ook in Barcelona, Baden Baden, Hamburg, Keulen, Luxemburg, Athene, enz. In het seizoen 2010-2011 was hij ook artist in residence van het Paleis voor Schone Kunsten in Brussel.
Als geëngageerd musicus was hij in 2007 medeoprichter van de vzw Cl4ssiK, die als doel heeft jongeren warm te maken voor de klassieke muziek.
