Feng NING

Feng Ning was born in Chengdu, China in 1981. He began learning the violin at the age of four with private teacher Youxin Wen. He entered the Sichuan Conservatory in 1992, and has studied with Professor Weimin Hu. During six years of study, he was selected to take part in Summer Schools and workshops in the U.K. and Canada. In 1998, Feng Ning went to the Royal Academy of Music in London to study with Professor Hu Kun. In 1999 he was invited by late Lord Menuhin to perform in Germany.

In April he became second in the Folkstone Yehudi Menuhin International Competition for Young Violinist. He won also the Royal Philharmonic Society, Emily Anderson Prize.

He has appeared in concert with the Philharmonia Hungarica, the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra and the London Mozart Players.

He had his Wigmore recital debut in 2001. In this year he finished 5th in the Queen Elisabeth Competition and in 2002 he was awarded the Emily English Scholarship in London.

Recently, he won the 3th prize in the Hannover International Violin competition. In June 2003, Feng Ning became the first student ever in school history to get the full mark for the Final Recital in the Royal Academy of Music. In 2004, he won the Michael Hill International Violin Competition and in 2006 the Paganini Prize in Genoa. Currently, he is studying at the Universität der Künste Berlin with Antje Weithaas.

He has performed recitals and concerts in China, Canada, UK, Belgium, Japan , USA and Germany.

Né à Chengdu, en Chine, Feng Ning commença ses études de violon à 4 ans avec Youxin Wen et donna son premier concert un an plus tard. À 11 ans, il étudia au Conservatoire de Musique de Sichuan et fut sélectionné pour participer à des cours d'été en Angleterre et au Canada. En 1998, Feng Ning vint à Londres se perfectionner avec Hu Kun à la Royal Academy of Music. Lors de master classes en 1999, il fut remarqué par Yehudi Menuhin qui l'invita à jouer en Allemagne.
Feng Ning remporta ensuite de nombreux prix, parmi lesquels le 2e Prix du Concours International Yehudi Menuhin (Folkestone, 2000), le 5e Prix au Concours Reine Elisabeth en 2001, le 3e Prix du Concours International de Hanovre (2003), le Premier Prix du Concours d’Auckland (Nouvelle-Zélande, 2005) et, plus récemment, le Premier Prix du Concours Paganini 2006 à Gênes.
Fait unique dans l'histoire de la Royal Academy of Music de Londres, Feng Ning obtint 100% lors de son examen final en juin 2003. Il étudie actuellement à Berlin avec Antje Weithaas et se produit régulièrement en récitals ou avec des orchestres renommés à travers le monde. Son violon a été réalisé en 2006 par Peter Greiner, un luthier allemand.

In 1999 wordt hij tijdens een meesterklas door Yehudi Menuhin opgemerkt en vervolgens uitgenodigd naar Duitsland.
Naderhand behaalt Feng Ning talrijke prijzen, waaronder de 2e prijs van de Internationale Yehudi Menuhinwedstrijd (Folkestone, 2000), de 5e prijs van de Koningin Elisabethwedstrijd 2001, de 3e prijs van de Internationale Wedstrijd van Hannover (2003), de 1ste prijs van het concours van Auckland (Nieuw-Zeeland, 2005) en recentelijk de 1ste prijs van de Paganiniwedstrijd 2006 in Genua. Een opvallend detail: Feng Ning is de eerste student in de geschiedenis van de Royal Academy of Music van Londen die 100% behaalt op zijn eindexamenrecital! Hij is afgestudeerd bij Antje Weithaas in Berlijn en treedt wereldwijd regelmatig in recital of met orkest op. Hij bespeelt een viool die in 2006 door Peter Greiner, een Duitse vioolbouwer, vervaardigd is.
