Boyan Vodenitcharov (1960) behaalde nog voor hij in 1979 aan het Conservatorium van Sofia ging studeren de 2de Prijs van de internationale wedstrijd van Senigallia. Vervolgens werd hij 3de laureaat van de Busoniwedstrijd (1981) en de Koningin Elisabethwedstrijd (1983). Eind de jaren tachtig vervolmaakte hij zich bij Leon Fleisher aan het Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore. Sindsdien is Boyan Vodenitcharov zowel in Europa, de Verenigde Staten als in Canada en Japan een gewaardeerd pianist. Hij trad onder meer op in het Paleis voor Schone Kunsten in Brussel, het Amsterdamse Concertgebouw, het Palais de la Musique in Straatsburg, de Smetanazaal in Praag en de Suntory Hall in Tokio. Al 20 jaar lang is hij geboeid door oude instrumenten, waarmee hij meerdere cd’s opnam. Naast concert pianist is Boyan Vodenitcharov actief op het vlak van compositie en improvisatie. Enkele van zijn werken werden in Frankrijk, Duitsland, België en Bulgarije uitgevoerd. Momenteel is hij leraar piano, pianoforte en improvisatie aan het Koninklijk Conservatorium van Brussel.

Né en 1960, Boyan Vodenitcharov est lauréat du Concours international Senigallia lorsqu’il entre au Conservatoire de Sofia en 1979. Il obtient ensuite le 3e Prix au Concours Busoni en 1981 et le 3e Prix au Concours Reine Elisabeth en 1983. En 1986 et 1987, il se perfectionne auprès de Leon Fleisher au Peabody Conservatory de Baltimore. Il donne des concerts dans toute l’Europe, aux États-Unis, au Canada et au Japon. De prestigieuses salles de concert l’ont ainsi accueilli, comme le Palais des Beaux-Arts de Bruxelles, le Concertgebouw d’Amsterdam, le Palais de la Musique de Strasbourg, la Salle Smetana de Prague, ou encore le Suntory Hall de Tokyo. Depuis une vingtaine d’années, il s’intéresse également aux instruments anciens sur lesquels il a enregistré de nombreux CD. À côté de ses activités d’instrumentiste, Boyan Vodenitcharov travaille aussi dans le domaine de la composition et de l’improvisation. Plusieurs de ses oeuvres ont été jouées en France, en Allemagne, en Belgique et en Bulgarie. Actuellement, il est professeur de piano, de pianoforte et d’improvisation au Koninklijk Conservatorium de Bruxelles.

Born in 1960, Boyan Vodenitcharov entered the Conservatory in Sofia in 1979, having already been a prizewinner at the Senigallia international competition. He went on to come third in the Busoni Competition in 1981 and in the 1983 Queen Elisabeth Competition. He undertook further studies with Leon Fleischer at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore in 1986 and 1987. He gives concerts throughout Europe, the United States, Canada, and Japan, performing at prestigious concert halls such as the Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Palais de la Musique in Strasbourg, the Smetana Hall in Prague, and the Suntory Hall in Tokyo. For 20 years now, he has also taken an interest in period instruments, on which he has recorded a number of CDs. In addition to his activities as a performer, Boyan Vodenitcharov also works in the fields of composition and improvisation. A number of his works have been performed in France, Germany, Belgium, and Bulgaria. He currently teaches the piano, the fortepiano, and improvisation at the Brussels Royal Conservatory.
